Vincenzo Scamozzi, Architect
Vincenzo Scamozzi (1548-1616) left Vicenza where he worked and moved to Venice in 1581, a year after Palladio's death. He designed the Procuratie Nuove in Piazza San Marco, and completed many projects that Palladio had left incomplete. His are the church of the Tolentini, the Palazzo Duodo, the Church and Hospice of San Lazaro dei Mendicanti as well as numerous villas in Veneto. Scamozzi represented, in many ways, a modern figure as an architect, scholar and intellectual of his time.
