Tiziano

Tiziano Vecellio (1488/1490 – 1576) was a painter of the Republic of Venice and the most important exponent of the Venetian school.

An innovative and versatile artist, as well as a master, along with Giorgione, of tonalism, Titian was one of the few Italian painters who owned a real business, becoming an astute businessman. In direct contact with the powerful of his time, they would become his main clients.

A genius and protagonist of Renaissance painting throughout the European continent, Titian brought about an artistic revolution in Renaissance painting, bringing the primacy of Michelangelo's drawing to the highly personal use of color along with the skillful use of light. He also proved to be the most skilled portrait painter of his time, able to immortalize character and emotions in portraits of him.

He is considered by art critics to be one of the best and most complete painters of all time, greatly influencing many later artists.
