Palaces

Among the canals of Venice you will find beautiful palaces resulting from the efforts of families of Venetian merchants who managed to amass a fortune throughout the history of the Republic. They are constructions of great beauty and a variety of styles: Byzantine, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. Some buildings maintain the name "Ca", which in Venetian indicated belonging to an important house. Wonderful buildings that you should know and visit during your trip, starting with the monumental Doge's Palace.

Almost all the palaces respond to a similar construction scheme. The main façade is characterized by a central group of windows with a scheme divided into three parts, always oriented towards a watercourse. They consist of a ground floor with a mezzanine and a portal, which can be developed towards the flanks and, above from which two noble floors extend, where the rooms are. The noble floors can have polyphores with two, three, four or more openings, which are located in the large reception rooms and which can be accompanied by balconies with balusters. Many buildings have patios with a well.
