Cima da Conegliano
Cima da Conegliano (Conegliano, ca. 1459 - 1517/1518) was a Venetian painter. His full name was Giovanni Battista Cima. He probably studied with Bartolomeo Montagna in Vicenza and Alvise Vivarini. He was also influenced by Antonello da Messina and later by Titian and Giorgione. In 1492 he arrived in Venice, where he lived until 1516. He soon found his own style, very close in theme and technique to Bellini. His work is characterized by an atmosphere full of peace and tenderness, as well as by a detailed observation of nature. He mainly painted religious paintings, especially images of Madonnas, but there are also worldly themes in his work.
