Bartolomeo Vivarini
Bartolomeo Vivarini (1430 – after 1491) was an Italian painter. He began working together with his older brother Antonio Vivarini around the 1450s. He was greatly influenced by Andrea Mantegna.
The brothers had a workshop on the island of Murano where they received numerous orders, especially from the Franciscan order. For more than forty years Bartolomeo Vivarini would develop his painting career mainly in Venice and its domains.
In 1474, Bartolomeo signed the Triptych of Saint Mark for one of the chapels of the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. In this work the Mantegna style is evident in the details of the Renaissance throne and the fruit festoons.
