Antonello da Messina
Antonello da Messina (Messina, ca. 1430-1479) was a Sicilian painter. He studied painting in Sicily and in 1450 in Naples. During a trip between 1474 and 1476 he was in Venice and Milan. In Antonello's work we can see a great influence of Dutch art and the work of Piero della Francesca. From very early on he showed his great ability to faithfully reproduce the smallest details, developing a painting of great quality. From his vivid reproductions he built a pictorial language of basic geometric forms and great force of perspective.
