Arriving to Venice by car: Tronchetto Parking

You can reach Venice without difficulty following the directions of the highway. At the end of the Ponte della Libertà, you can find Tronchetto Parking, the easiest and cheapest way to park in the heart of Venice historic center.

If you arrive in Venice by car, you can choose to avoid Piazzale Roma and park on the Tronchetto Island which is located at the end of the Ponte della Libertà (the first turn on the right and after the first bridge on the right). There is a very large multi-storey car park here that offers cheaper rates.

Tronchetto Parking

Tronchetto Parking is the easiest and cheapest way to park in the heart of Venice. This parking, near Piazzale Roma, offers several and cheap connections to all areas of the city. Inside the car park you can find the Electric Vehicles Charging Service, with 16 Charging Stations available. The car park has six automatic cash machines, where you can pay in cash or by credit card. Parking characteristics:

  • About 4000 covered parking spaces.
  • About 500 spaces for buses, camper vans and minivans.
  • 100 metres from the vaporetto stops.
  • 60 parking spaces for motorbikes.
  • Staff on site 24H 7/7
  • 33 parking spaces for the disabled.
  • The parking has 5 lifts to get to street level.
  • Vending machines.
  • Indoor Parking Prices: 4 euro (1 hour) / 26 euro (24 hours)

If you arrive by car and park at the Tronchetto Parking Terminal, or by tourist coach, you can get to Venice by taking waterbus route 2 departing from the ACTV landing stages on the island. You can reach St. Mark’s Square along the Grand Canal (landing stage to the right of the ticket office, a 28-minutes ride), or along the Giudecca Canal (landing stage to the left, a 30-minute ride). At night, waterbus service is provided by line N down the Grand Canal between 0:02 am and 4:42 am, and down the Giudecca Canal between 0:19 am and 4:59 am.

The monorail People Mover shuttle train will take you to the Stazione Marittima Cruise Terminal and to Piazzale Roma. Tickets may be purchased at the automatic ticket machines. When you reach Piazzale Roma, it is just a short walk to the ACTV landing stages, from which the main public transport waterbus routes depart in all directions and for all destinations, along the Grand Canal or the Giudecca Canal, or following the circuit of the outer circle waterbus routes.
